Investment Banking “War Stories” with Morgan Stanley

Jan Weber, Managing Director in the M&A Group and Head of Activism Advisory EMEA, and Michael Maag, Executive Director and Head of IBD Switzerland, will share stories from the most exciting and high profile deals they have worked on during their combined 25 years+ of experience. This event represents a unique opportunity to discuss the challenges that you will face as a banker and to receive first hand insights into the culture of investment banking. The team will also inform you about internship and career opportunities at Morgan Stanley.
After the public event, a selected group of 15 students will be invited for informal drinks at the Hotel Einstein Bar.
Hedge Fund: Tom Capital
Thomas Stämpfli, a HSG alumnus, is the founder and chairman of Tom Capital, a Zurich-based hedge fund. Learn how Tom Capital uses systematic model based investing to achieve abnormal returns. Furthermore, he will discuss his investment strategies and what it takes to be a successful investor. To top it all off you will be invited to an apéro where you can ask all the questions you always wanted about hedge funds and investing.
About Thomas Stämpfli:
Thomas Stämpfli is the founder of Tom Capital and chairman of the Board of Directors; he is also head of asset management. He has spent the last 25 years mining data and building models to forecast the probability of future events in order to make profit-enhancing decisions. He founded Deltavista and led it to a dominant market leadership in the forecast of default probability of companies and private persons. Previously, he developed spread trading models for the equity market with Salomon Brothers in New York; this was followed by the establishment of Leikauf, Schmid & Stämpfli with two partners, which offered systematic and fully automated trading strategies in the futures markets. He has a degree in business administration, with finance and accounting, from the University of St. Gallen.

IFSA Hedge Fund 3h Trading Competition
